Twinkle Colony

Talent and recruitment strategy for organisations in Japan

Careers move like migration, not like postings filled.

Twinkle Colony looks at why people arrive at an organisation, why they stay, why they leave, and what the pattern across those movements suggests. The reading is plain, and every decision that follows stays with you.

We give strategy advice only. We do not find, screen or introduce candidates, and we do not advertise vacancies.

What we look at

The work rests on service records and on conversations held in confidence, read together instead of one at a time. It is organised around four stages that describe how people actually move through a workplace, not around the vacancies a company happens to be trying to fill.

Why people arrive

What draws a candidate to say yes, and whether the role as advertised matches the role as lived.

Why people stay

The conditions that keep someone in place well past the point where they might reasonably have moved on.

Why people leave

The stated reason at departure, set against the different reason often given a year on.

What the pattern suggests

A plain reading of the shape formed by all three, offered as material for your own judgement.

Four tenure bands, read one by one

A retention review groups length of service into bands and asks what each band usually points to. The notes below describe how we read them in general terms. They are not statistics about any organisation, yours included.

0 to 1 year

Departures here are often read against onboarding gaps before the hiring match is questioned.

1 to 3 years

A common point for questions about role clarity or growth to come to the surface.

3 to 7 years

Often a settled working relationship with the team, and the band where a move deserves a closer look.

7 years and more

Long familiarity with the place, worth understanding on its own terms and not only as loyalty.

How the work is set up

Twinkle Colony is a small advisory practice with a postal address in Miyakonojo, Miyazaki. Engagements are written in English, and how they are carried out (remotely, or in person by arrangement) is agreed in the written quote.

Who it suits
The retention review is scoped for organisations of roughly thirty people or more. The workshop and the onboarding work can be useful at a smaller size.
How long it takes
Indicative scopes are three weeks for a review, one three-hour session for a workshop and two sessions over four weeks for onboarding. The written quote fixes the dates.
What you receive
A written document your own team can act on without us. The findings describe patterns across the organisation, not named individuals.

What we do not do

Twinkle Colony is not an employment agency. We do not recruit on behalf of clients, we do not refer or introduce individual candidates, and we do not hold or claim a licence for paid job placement. Where a conversation turns to filling a particular seat, we will say that this lies outside the work and leave it there.

We also do not promise outcomes. A review describes what the records and conversations show; whether and how you act on it is your decision.

Ways we can work together

Three services, each addressing a different stage of the same movement. Prices are guide prices from ¥ and are confirmed in a written quote before anything starts.
